The first half deals with the question of noise. What is it, whose is it, and how can we think about it. Also, how does noise inflect our thinking, rather than being an object; at what point does noise lose its noiseness and become meaning, music, signification? Or -- is there even a point where noise can subsist? Mostly, the text below takes the view that noise is a function of not-noise, itself a function of not being noise. Noise is no more original than music or meaning, and yet its position is to indicate the banished, overcome primordiality, and cannot lose this 'meaning'. For just over 10 years, London's Guapo has been working in the world of avant and progressive rock. The band's past is a bit hard to track with its numerous lineup changes and guest musicians. The most recent change in roster was the resignation of Matthew Thompson, the founding member of Guapo, which occurred just before the release of 2005's Black Oni. The departure of Thompson has left Guapo with percussionist David Smith and multi-instrumentalist Daniel O'Sullivan. Though O'Sullivan is by no means a founding member of the band, but he was essential in honing the sound on Guapo's last two LPs: Five Suns and Black Oni. In 1919, in the midst of the Russian Civil War, Theremin invented the musical instrument that bears his name. The theremin is an electronic device that resonates sound when its operator waves his hands near its two antennas. It was the first musical instrument designed to be played without being touched. He invented the theremin (also called the thereminvox) in 1919, when his country was in the midst of the Russian Civil War. After a lengthy tour of Europe, during which he demonstrated his invention to full audiences, Theremin found his way to the United States. He performed the theremin with the New York Philharmonic in 1928. He patented his invention in 1929 (U.S. Patent 1,661,058 ) and subsequently granted commercial production rights to RCA. In 1938 Theremin was kidnapped in the New York apartment he shared with his American wife (the black ballet dancer, Iavana Williams) by the NKVD (forerunners of the KGB). Project Icarus: Gas Mining on Uranus

Project Icarus is a 21st century theoretical study of a mission to another star. Icarus aims to build on the work of the celebrated Daedalus project. Between the period 1973-1978 members of the BIS undertook a theoretical study of a flyby mission to Barnard's star 5.9 light years away. This was Project Daedalus and remains one of the most complete studies of an interstellar probe to date. The 54,000 ton two-stage vehicle was powered by inertial confinement fusion using electron beams to compress the D/He3 fusion capsules to ignition. It would obtain an eventual cruise velocity of 36,000km/s or 12% of light speed from over 700kN of thrust, burning at a specific impulse of 1 million seconds, reaching its destination in approximately 50 years. The United States Air Force (USAF) has launched a secret space plane into orbit, carried in the nose of an Atlas 5 rocket. The USAF is not calling the X-37B a weapon or anything else, and the classified mission was broadcast live, but only for several minutes into the flight. The plane, built by Boeing, was originally part of a NASA programme but was later abandoned and turned over to a secretive USAF unit. There are no details on how much it costs or when it is coming back to earth, but when it does return the unmanned craft will land itself, using the onboard autopilot. Read More ...

Indo’s Creative Commons Licensed albums are a series of global ambient experiments utilizing multiple musical cultures. Each album appears to be focused on a certain world music. However the Hungarian artist uses his own electronic and sampling tricks to give them an unique and individual sound. I prefer these albums as essentially background music for reading or working but they would also work well for meditative listening.....

Tangata Manu has an album cover of the Easter Island statues. I do not know if the sound sare of Easter Island music specifically but there is definitely a Pacific Island beat going on. Actually it reminds me of the Kodo album I have on my shelf. I love the way Indo builds the tension on track two. Other tracks tend to be less tense yet it remain an intriguing listen from the first to last track.

Based on the title of Tropical Dream Forest, I dreaded the album would be something like the mass produced New Age “relaxation” tapes. However this is another good mixture of Indo’s experiments with electronics and nature. I especially like “Rain and Sunshine”. There doesn’t seem to be a coherent theme here. Rain Forest themed pieces are mixed with a 9/11 tribute called “The Two Towers”. Yet there are plenty of nice experiments.

Al-Isra (The Night Flying fo Mohammed is derived from the 17th Sutra of the Holy Quran focusing on Mohamed’s night journey from Mecca to Jerusalem. Between it chant-like recitations and the long drones, it is quite a mystical journey. I find this the most involving of Indo’s efforts.

Khastra Vairya is Indo’s own Persian fantasy. In many ways it is the most abrasive of the sound journeys. Not my favorite but still interesting. Indo appears to be echoing Muslimgauze on this album. Frankly I think Indo’s ambient soundscapes are more accessible than those of Muslimgauze.

Finally, the single tracked Pneuma is essentially a thirty minute drone exercise incorporate nature sounds including bird calls and water sounds. It is the most meditative of the albums.

INDO ( Andras Kiss ) - 22 years old musician from Hungary, as well that he compose experimental electronic music, He's graphic desingner,and engaged in fine arts.
Think the sense status of today's people is not the primodial, natural status. That is one of the reasons of the people be on bad terms with the nature. I think the music is an ideal device for modification of sense, I would like to put off the listener from the everyday, habitual sense state to a deeeper, cleaner, which is closer to the people primodial, natural sense state.

The music of the Hungarian project INDO is closest to electro-ambient. It is quite often very minimal, but even then dominated by one or two strong front elements or a speech sample. The tone is refined, neither cold nor full, and the emphasis is clearly in creating a soundscape. On most of the tracks this idea functions quite nicely, on The Two Towers it's used brilliantly, on the lbum's longest (over 20 min) track Under Your Sense it is simply irritating and boring. Yet at even the weakest moments there are always beautiful melodies and elements, at least in the backgrounds, pieces which makes it possible to easily get past the worse parts to the next high point - and those high points are rather common, too. Anras Kiss obviously knows what he is doing, and the material has the feel of "doing my own thing" in the best sense of the words.

While INDO is in no way mainstream, or to everyone's tastes, it is easy to approach.
Nevertheless it isn't too light or too easy - or too irritating. If Finnish bands
like Dystopia or Sine Nomine have been to your taste, you should definitely give this a chance

Khsatra Vairya, the divine kingdom… What is this?
Maybe the old Aryan vibrations will help us to find the answer?
This trip starts on the ancient Persian streets. Sound of birds, walking people. You are just a guest in this kingdom, you are a pilgrim, but not a stranger - you've got a good guide who will lead you to all of the secret sacred places. A road to oroastrians temple. You've found the way to this divine kingdom.

Then we approach an old temple and watch the fire of Agiyari ("abode of fire", Place of Worship). Open the "Avesta" book and read the words of Zarathushtra.
Listen and hear the rhythm of sands and water. Sacred water in deep sands, a rose-water fountain symbolizing fragrance and happiness. Gardens with birds, running children…
Now we are going to the celebration of the fire. A dark night in the mountains and wood fire on the top. Silence and the hythm of steel swords and gongs, which bring evil to death. A morning in the valley. You are waking up under the tree, near the ake. Again birds, again sacred water…
Navroz ("Arrival of Spring"), the main Parsis celebration. Crowds of people, glitters of fire reflected in steel of swords and orshipers' eyes. A lustre of fame and the magnificence of dresses. Fervent looks of concubine girls. Gardens, birds, mountains…Hot whirl in hot sands under the Holy Sun.
And now you are in the end of your trip… Was it the truth or just a dream? Have you guessed the riddle, will you read this dream? And, maybe, you have found yourself out? So, you have found your divine kingdom, your Khsatra Vairya.
The album in a whole makes a very positive impression, but there seem to be some problems with the quality of the sound. Therefore, this technical aspect is the only weak point of the work. The nearest parallel - classical "Muslimgauze".

The album is influenced from the 17th Sura of the Holy Quran with the related muslim legend; Mohamed's most important mystic experience, the night journey from Mecca to Jerusalem.
