Al-Bayanuni says:Burhan Ghalioun is a liberal academic who had once been a communist.We nominated him for this position so that he acts as the front end of national political action. We are not acting as a Muslim Brotherhood Movement; we are rather acting as a national front, as a national council that includes all political movements.We have chosen this figure that is accepted in the West and at home to prevent the regime from capitalizing on the presence of an Islamist at the top of the Syrian National Council.As for this man, he is different from us with respect to political thought and ideas.
